In the first of a series at IBM developerWorks on portal development, David Lection introduces portlet programming for the WebSphere Portal Server using the Jetspeed and Turbine frameworks from the Apache Jakarta Project. He shows how to construct a portlet application, including the required classes and support files, and explains how to build and deploy a portlet to a working portal server.
Portals and portal servers are red-hot in Internet and Web development today. Just about everyone who's developing a Web site is using some sort of portal technology.
