Nagios Installation Methods

Which method you use to install Nagios determines how it can be used down the road. It is best to think carefully about whether you should compile or install from a RPM or DEB file.
Once you make a choice you will need to stick with it. The reason for this is that each installation method creates different paths to the configuration files and to the binaries.
