These tutorials prepare you for the Linux Professional Institute's 102 exam. Note that the eight tutorials also include the Linux Administration 101 series.
In this tutorial, Daniel Robbins prepares you for the Linux Professional Institute's 102 exam. In this second tutorial in a series of four, you will learn how to compile the Linux kernel from sources. You will also learn about important kernel configuration options, along with PCI and USB support in the kernel. By the end of this series of tutorials (eight in all: four related to the 101 exam and four related to the 102 exam), you'll have the knowledge you need to become a Linux Systems Administrator and will be ready to attain an LPIC Level 1 certification from the Linux Professional Institute if you so choose. Even for those not preparing for the certification exam, this tutorial is useful for experienced Linux users who want to round out their basic Linux administration skills. [All eight tutorials are linked on the bottom of the first page. -Ed]
