An introduction/overview to several different packages for backing up your Linux box.
As Linux has become a fully accepted operating system, the utilities and applications available for Linux have grown to mirror those available for Unix. The same is true of the backup software we are reviewing here. The Linux software mirrors the abilities of the Unix versions of the same software completely. If preferred, you could rely on cpio and tar to perform backups. But the third-party application-software packages like our review packages offer far more automation, convenience, and recovery options than either cpio or tar can provide.
