Tips from a laptop tech on things to consider and things to avoid in choosing your new Linux laptop computer...
"Pretty" computers always seemed to break more often and more seriously, and they were more expensive to buy, upgrade, and fix than their ordinary relatives. In the early days of car hot-rodding, I believe the phrase used to describe such a situation was, "If it don't run, chrome it."
Along the same line of thinking, any laptop described as "thin and light" can just as easily be called "fragile and flimsy." Stay away from laptops that use magnesium alloy bezels...
