Small, sweet, and based on Slackware...
...everything in Zenwalk is designed for the user to do things in the simplest/fastest possible way, within a complete working environment that has a professional look and feel. For this reason, the Zenwalk ISO image provides just one application for each task, which decreases clutter in the system. I don't see any reason to change this philosophy, since users can always substitute one application for another. A great selection of optional software exists at the Zenwalk repository, readily available to download and install.
